Anwar still waiting for Loke’s resignation letter

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has yet to receive DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook’s letter of resignation as transport minister.

Anwar sidestepped queries from reporters on Loke’s status as a Cabinet minister, simply saying he was “waiting for the (resignation) letter” from the DAP leader.

Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan chairman, previously urged Loke to reconsider his decision to resign from the Cabinet over former prime minister Najib Razak’s conditional pardon.

The PKR president said DAP should not succumb to pressure from those who want the party to withdraw from the government simply to destabilise the administration.

Anwar had said he would further discuss the matter with Loke to hear his official explanation.

The DAP secretary-general has nonetheless stood firm on his resignation, saying he would submit his resignation letter upon returning from a working visit to China.

According to a transport ministry invitation, Loke is scheduled to officiate the Maritime Week 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday.

Anwar also sidestepped questions on Perikatan Nasional’s suspension by the Registrar of Societies, directing reporters to ask home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail about the matter instead.
