Josh Duhamel Breaks Silence on Ransom Canyon's Surprise Cancellation
Josh Duhamel Shares the Sweetest Photo of Sons Axl, 13, and Shepard, 2, Bonding
Josh Duhamel was ready for another rodeo.
Over a month after Netflix canceled Ransom Canyon following the release of season two, the actor shared his candid thoughts, admitting he was "bummed" by the unexpected decision.
"I was pretty surprised, if I’m being honest," the 53-year-old told Us Weekly in an interview published Oct. 19. "I thought [it was safe] because the show was No. 1 for almost two weeks and the numbers looked really, really good and people really loved the show."
"I was a little upset with Netflix for not giving the audience another season, because people really did love the show," the Las Vegas alum told the outlet, "but that’s the business. At the same time, I get it. They have their reasons for why things stay and why things go. I don’t always understand those reasons, but it’s not my job to question."
Still, Duhamel—dad to 13-year-old son Axl with ex Fergie as well as 2-year-old son Shepard and newborn daughter Rocca wife Audra Mari—sympathizes with heartbroken viewers. Especially those wanting to see whether his rancher character Staten Kirkland and Minka Kelly’s Quinn O’Grady would officially find their happily ever after together.
"I’ve just gotta move on," he lamented. "I just feel bad for the fans who are really invested in it, and that’s it, unfortunately."
But while Staten may by hanging up his saddle for now, Duhamel is certainly open to reprising the role of a cowboy in the future.

"I really loved playing that character," he reflected. "It was in my wheelhouse, because I remember when I first got the job, I was actually out of my cabin, which isn’t a ranch. But I’m always doing ranch-y type things."
As for his costar Kelly's honest reaction to Ransom Canyon's abrupt cancellation?
"All good things must come to an end. And so it is," the Friday Night Lights alum wrote on Instagram Sept. 11. "Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons! I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!!"
Of course, Ransom Canyon is hardly the first show to get the boot out of the blue. Keep reading to see more hit TV series that were canceled this year.
