Selangor expands Kita Selangor Voucher eligibility, households earning RM8,000 or below now qualify

SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — The Selangor government has expanded the eligibility threshold for the Kita Selangor Voucher (BKS) to include households with a monthly income of RM8,000 or below.

State Women’s Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari said the phased rollout of the programme was introduced under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package to assist citizens affected by the rising cost of living and economic uncertainty resulting from global supply crises. 

It initially prioritised vulnerable groups such as single mothers and heads of hardcore-poor households before extending eligibility to households earning RM5,000 or less.

“The state government has further expanded the eligibility threshold to include households earning RM8,000 or less. Applications must be submitted via the SELangkah app,” she said in a statement today.

She said applicants who are currently under review, were previously rejected, or are appealing will have their cases reassessed under the revised criteria,” she said.

The key requirements include Malaysian citizen and a registered voter residing in Selangor.

“Married couples or single parents must have at least one child aged 18 or younger and a household income of RM8,000 or less.

“Only one recipient is allowed per household, and the applicant must not be an active recipient of the Selangor Prosperous Living Aid (BINGKAS) programme,” she said.
