Shuhaily to be charged tomorrow over alleged assault on policemen

Translate

Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Shuhaily Zain is expected to be charged at the Sepang magistrates’ court tomorrow over the alleged assault of two police personnel at KLIA.

Quoting sources, Berita Harian reported that he would be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

The case came to public attention after CCTV footage allegedly showing Shuhaily confronting a person at KLIA Terminal 1 went viral.

AKPS confirmed the footage was genuine and said the incident occurred while Shuhaily was inspecting preparations at KLIA ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Shuhaily claimed that certain quarters were attempting to tarnish his reputation and that of AKPS, but said he would cooperate with the investigation and accept whatever decision the authorities make.
