Kenya Power Announces Wednesday Blackouts in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Meru and Other Counties

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kericho, Nyeri, Meru, Murang’a, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Kitui counties on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The utility said the outages would facilitate routine maintenance, with affected areas expected to experience power interruptions at different times between 8am and 5pm.

In a notice, Kenya Power listed the affected neighbourhoods, markets, institutions and other locations, advising customers in the areas to plan accordingly.

Nairobi Region

Part of Ridgeways

• Time: 9am–5pm

• Affected areas: Safaripark, Roasters, Mukima Drive 8 and adjacent customers.

Part of Westlands

• Time: 9am–5pm

• Affected areas: Parts of Taarifa Road, Forest Road, Parklands Road, Ojijo Road and Mpaka Road; MP Shah Hospital, Mayfair, Parklands Police, Crescent Road and adjacent customers.

Kajiado County

Parts of Ngong

• Time: 8am–5pm

• Affected areas: Parts of Ngong Town, Lemiso, Gichagi, Abadarengere, Maragara, Olemontet, Booster Road, parts of KHIBT, Chavara, Kimuka, Maroroi, Saikeri, Ilgaloog and adjacent customers.

Central Rift Region

Parts of Kericho County

• Time: 8am–4pm

• Affected areas: Koitaburot, West Valley, Kejiriet, Kipsitet Girls, Kipsitet Market, Koyaibei Market and adjacent customers.

Mt Kenya Region

Parts of Nyeri County — Karatina area

• Time: 8am–5pm

• Affected areas: Jamii Hospital, Karatina Sub-County Hospital, Saigon, Mawasco, Ragati Primary School, Safaricom Booster, Airtel Booster and adjacent customers.

Parts of Nyeri County — Kirimara

• Time: 9am–5pm

• Affected areas: Kirimara Coffee Factory, Kirimara Water Pump, Kirimara Village and adjacent customers.

Parts of Meru County

• Time: 8am–5pm

• Affected areas: Mutuati, Laare, Kambi Kairanya, Antubetwe Kiongo, Kieni Kia Muti, Karama Market, Nkoe, Athawene, Mea, Kanuni, Kamukuji, Nkamathi, Mariri, Niaikuriu, Tuuru Mission, Ithata, Kamweline and adjacent customers.

Parts of Murang’a County

• Time: 9am–5pm

Kitui County

Mwambiu, Mutito and Masasini

• Time: 8am–5pm

• Affected areas: Mwambiu, Nyaani, Kalua, Ikoo, Mutito, Itiko, Masasini and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power urged customers to use its USSD service by dialling *977# for convenient access to its services.
