President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. received Monday the credentials of newly designated envoys, Turkish Ambassador Kaan Esener and Egyptian Ambassador Ihab Ahmed Aboserie Ahmed.

Receiving the credentials of Türkiye's Ambassador-designate at Malacañang Palace, Marcos noted that the ceremony reaffirms both nations' shared commitment to advancing their longstanding diplomatic relations.

“With 77 years of diplomatic relations, the Philippines and Türkiye continue to explore opportunities to expand economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people ties,” the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) said on Facebook.

In 2025, the PCO noted that bilateral trade between the Philippines and Türkiye reached USD 365.01 million, while tourist arrivals from Türkiye rose to 12,559.

Marking another milestone with the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Palace stated that accepting the credentials of the new Egyptian envoy signals a renewed commitment to strengthening ties and pursuing new avenues of bilateral cooperation.

“As the two countries celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations, both remain committed to fostering stronger ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation,” PCO said.

The agency likewise took note of the uptick in bilateral trade with Egypt, which reached USD 36.58 million in 2025, while Egyptian tourist arrivals to the Philippines grew to 2,502.

PCO said this momentum with Egypt underscores significant opportunities to boost economic engagement and cultural exchanges. — BAP, GMA News
