Jon Stewart Strikes Two-Year Deal To Remain As ‘The Daily Show’ Host Through 2028

Jon Stewart will remain as one of the hosts of The Daily Show for another two years.
The comedian has struck a new deal to remain as one of the hosts and executive producers of the Comedy Central show through to the end of 2028.
The move means that Stewart will be in position for another general election. It is also a statement from Skydance and should quiet critics concerned that David Ellison and co. would look to cancel the political comedy show, much like CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert before Skydance took control of Paramount last year.
It also marks the first major late-night announcement for Skydance since it completed the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery with George Cheeks becoming Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, Skydance TV.
Stewart is once again under the same corporate umbrella as his former colleague John Oliver, who signed a one-year that takes him through the end of 2027.
Stewart’s last deal was signed in November 2025 and took him through the end of this year.
Stewart will continue hosting on Monday nights with the remaining nights of the week featuring a rotating cast including Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic.
He exec produces alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and his manager James Dixon.
“Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central. We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team,” said George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, Skydance TV.
