Tracker season 4 will stage a nostalgic reunion for its first big guest star.
Despite sliding to the number two spot in terms of ratings, Justin Hartley's series was still one of the most-watched shows during the 2025-2026 TV cycle. In many ways, Tracker season 3 marked the end of an era for the project, however, as the year saw the resolution to its central mystery — the death of Ashton Shaw, and the revelation that Colter has a home base. This clears the path for new narratives moving forward.
Production for Tracker season 4 has been quietly progressing for a while now. This means that the show's storytelling is already at least several episodes deep. Throughout the off-season during the summer, however, news about what's next for Colter and his allies moving forward. For context, Tracker season 3 ended with some sort of cliffhanger, as Jensen Ackles' Russell left his brother without telling him what's in McIntyre's file. Beyond the overarching stories, however, a new addition is confirmed for its procedural aspect.
Per Matt Mitovich's Matt's Inside Line, Tracker season 4 will see Sarah Jane Morris come in for a guest spot. She will appear in episode 4, and her appearance will be a Brothers and Sisters alum with Ken Olin, who was an EP in the family drama. Morris's role appears to be more like a one-time thing, as it's tied to a weekly case. Read the rest of the details below:
Matt's Inside Line can exclusively report that Sarah Jane Morris — of Brothers and Sisters and NCIS, but also The Pitt (where in Season 1 she played Dr. Robby's ex-girlfriend Janey) — is set to guest-star in a Season 4 episode of broadcast-TV's No. 2 drama.
On Tracker, which counts fellow Brothers and Sisters alum Ken Olin among its EPs, Morris will play Leanne, a woman who embarks on a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail with her daughter Kayla, to honor the memory of Leanne's late husband. When Kayla injures her ankle, Leanne leaves the trail to seek help, only to be knocked unconscious by an unseen assailant....
Before this new casting news, there have been a couple of news about the show. Firstly, CBS clarified its official release time, which is 9:00pm ET on Sundays, although during its premiere week, it will air a bit later at 9:30pm ET. More interestingly, Tracker season 4's format change also got an update, maintaining that it will continue its procedural format. This new casting announcement backs this up, as Morris' role clearly is about the case-of-the-week for Colter.
Whether the actress returns beyond the aforementioned episode is currently uncertain at this point. For what it's worth, Tracker tends to bring in some recognizable actors for guest spots. Obviously, there's Jensen Ackles as Russell, but the series has also done other one-time appearances, most notably David Ramsey in season 3. At this point, Morris' future after Tracker season 4, episode 4 is currently uncertain, but if the project takes a more serialized route down the road, she could come back.
There are still a few weeks left before CBS's fall 2026 primetime debuts, but despite that, there hasn't been a scarcity of updates about Tracker throughout this time. Expect that this will continue, as the network ramps up their marketing efforts for the project. Perhaps it has a few more special guests in the horizon waiting to be announced.
