3-year-old boy stabbed dead allegedy by father in Ilocos Sur

SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur, Philippines — A 3-year-old boy died after he was allegedly stabbed by his father inside their home in Barangay Lacong, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, on Friday, Aug. 28, police said.

The suspect, the victim’s 29-year-old father, is also a resident of the town.

Initial reports said the victim’s grandmother and aunt heard the father berating the child at around 1 a.m. that day.

At about 11 a.m. the same day, the grandmother noticed that her grandson had not yet come out of their room.

She opened the room and found the child wrapped in a blanket. When she uncovered him, she saw that he had sustained a stab wound to the chest.

The child was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect reportedly fled their home after the incident, and initial reports indicated the alleged weapon was not found at the crime scene.
