Blue Eye Samurai season 2 release date officially confirmed by Netflix over 3 years after previous run – and ahead of final episodes

Netflix has confirmed when fans can expect Blue Eye Samurai season 2 land – and it’s more than three years after season 1 aired in 2023.
The second season of the anime, which is created by married duo Amber Noizumi and Michael Green and follows mixed-race Japanese warrior Mizu’s (Maya Erskine) as she seeks revenge in Edo-period Japan, will launch on 19 January 2027.
A third season was confirmed back in August, and is slated to be released in 2028.
Season 2 will pick up with Mizu as she continues her quest for revenge in London, and faces new friends, old foes and her own demons.

Meanwhile, in Japan, Akemi (Brenda Song) and Taigen (Darren Barnet) navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new shogun, while Ringo (Masi Oka) looks for a new purpose.
Alongside Erskine, Song, Barnet and Oka, other expected returning cast members in season 2 include George Takei (Seki), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (The Swordmaker), Randall Park (Heiji Shindo) and Kenneth Branagh (Abijah Fowler).
The revenge drama first aired in 2023, and received much praise from fans and critics alike for its memorable characters, riveting action and gorgeous animation.
