NATIONAL DAY: Inbound traffic is forecast to peak on Sunday at Taoyuan airport, while takeoffs and landings are to be paused during air performances on Saturday

About 738,000 passengers are expected to pass through Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport during the five-day Double Ten National Day holiday travel period from tomorrow to Monday next week, with daily passenger traffic averaging about 147,000, Taoyuan International Airport Corp said yesterday.

Passenger traffic is expected to peak at more than 150,000 tomorrow and on Friday as people depart for the holiday, while inbound traffic is forecast to peak on Sunday, when total passenger traffic is expected to reach nearly 152,000, the company said.

National Day holiday traffic is expected to increase by about 6 percent from last year, with flights during the period averaging 82 percent passenger load, it said.

People should arrive at the airport about three hours before their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in, baggage drop-off and immigration procedures, it added.

Passengers are also encouraged to use digital and self-service facilities, including online and mobile check-in, self-service check-in kiosks, self-service baggage drop, city check-in services and automated immigration clearance through the e-Gate system to reduce waiting times, it said.

Takeoffs and landings would be paused during three periods on Saturday morning to accommodate aerial performances for National Day events, it said.

The three suspension periods are from 8:32am to 8:42am, 11:02am to 11:16am and 11:41am to 11:48am, it said.

Flights arriving at or departing from the airport that morning could be delayed, the company said, urging passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

People can check the latest flight changes and operational information on the airport’s Web site, it said.
