Kirsten Dunst spotted filming sequel to hit thriller The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney

Translate

Kirsten Dunst has been spotted on set of the highly-anticipated sequel to The Housemaid, seeing Sydney Sweeney reprise the role of Millie Calloway from the 2025 film starring Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.

With production under way on The Housemaid's Secret, Dunst has been photographed as the elusive Mrs Garrick, who appears to be Millie's new employer.

Dunst was previously announced as part of the sequel's cast alongside Off Campus star Stephen Kalyn as Millie's boyfriend Brock, who's unaware she has a criminal record, as well as Brittany Snow and Love Story star Paul Anthony Kelly.

The snaps obtained by Digital Spy see Dunst and Sweeney laughing in a car in what seems to be a break from filming, with a second picture seeing them with more serious expressions.

Dunst wears a purple cap with a beige jacket and light blue denim, while Sweeney rocks a leather jacket over a checkered shirt and blue jeans.

The pictures cast an intriguing light on the nature of the relationship between the two characters.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that The Housemaid's Secret, based on the 2023 novel of the same name by Freida McFadden, will see Millie "keeping house for a woman she's never allowed to see".

The synopsis teases that the truth Millie's employers are trying to keep hidden "threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own".

Dunst has been confirmed to play Mrs Garrick with Kelly as Douglas Garrick. Snow will play Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at Mr Garrick's company.

Behind the camera for the sequel is once again Paul Feig, who directed The Housemaid, with Rebecca Sonnenshine returning on screenwriting duties.

Teasing the follow-up, Feig said: "It's been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew.

"We're lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie's journey on the page, and that we get to work with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences."

The Housemaid's Secret is set for release on 17 December, 2027.
