LRT City construction continues even with refunds: Danantara

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Sovereign wealth fund Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria said the refund option and construction completion of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) City project are both continuing.

"We leave it to consumers to decide what is best, because for us there is also no problem. If many end up requesting refunds, that is fine, the construction will still continue," Oskaria said here on Thursday.

The LRT City building locations are very strategic, so it would be regrettable if their development did not continue.

"The location is excellent, access is easy, and later we will complete the facilities with a commercial area, because it will be developed by Danantara in the future," he said.

Regarding the completion of the LRT City project, which began earlier this month, he emphasized construction is being carried out with a focus on better quality.

"I have stressed to the entire team the quality must be good, because this concerns our good name," Oskaria stated.

According to him, this is in line with the transformation of state-owned enterprises (BUMN/SOEs) that the government is currently pushing.

"This is why it is important to transform our BUMN. All past mistakes must be explained. BUMN can no longer operate that way, taking people's money and then not building anything. For me, that is unacceptable," he said.

When asked about the completion target for the LRT City project, Oskaria said he is still waiting for a detailed timeline.

"I have to check, because the team has started coming in and organizing the project timeline. Perhaps, next week I will have the timeline, showing how long each project will take to complete," he added.

Previously, Danantara asked the LRT City issue be resolved comprehensively while still prioritizing consumers' rights and interests.

Based on mapping by the state-owned construction company, Adhi Karya, of about 5,400 units sold, 3,000 units have been handed over to consumers. Meanwhile, around 2,400 units still cannot be handed over and are spread across several LRT City projects.
