Cardinal David receives honorary doctorate from La Salle Araneta

MANILA, Philippines — Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David has been conferred an honorary Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) degree by De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) for his contributions to pastoral leadership and social justice, according to the university.
David received the award on Saturday during the university’s commencement exercises.

“This distinction recognizes Cardinal David’s outstanding contributions to biblical scholarship, pastoral leadership, social justice advocacy, and the promotion of human dignity,” the DLSAU wrote in a Facebook post.

The DLSAU also said David “has exemplified the values that De La Salle Araneta University seeks to uphold and promote” through his commitment to faith formation, education, and service to marginalized communities.

Such a degree is conferred to recognize personalities without requiring them to complete academic coursework or a thesis.
