Sophia is currently on a break from KATSEYE — but she already knows when she’ll be back.

HYBE x Geffen announced Thursday (Oct. 8) that the singer will resume group activities with KATSEYE during the first week of January 2027, therefore providing fans with a concrete timeline for her return after she stepped away from the group earlier this year.

“Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources,” the company said in a statement posted to Weverse. She will not participate in KATSEYE’s North American WILDWORLD tour dates or promotional activities for the remainder of 2026.

“We look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027,” the statement continued. “We are incredibly grateful to EYEKONS for the continued love, support, and understanding you’ve shown Sophia and KATSEYE. Thank you for standing by her, and we look forward to celebrating her return with you in the new year.”

Sophia also shared an update with EYEKONS on her Instagram Story, opening up about the time she has spent away from the group and the work she has been doing to take care of herself.

“It hasn’t been easy,” she wrote. “But I have been putting in the work by receiving the care I need, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I can to nurture my well-being.”

Sophia said she plans to continue training during her break, acknowledging that while she wishes she could “simply push through,” she has come to understand that “sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward.”

Her goal, she said, is to return “happier, healthier, stronger, more grounded” and ready to perform again.

“I can’t wait to share the stage with my sisters again and look out to all of you!” Sophia wrote before asking EYEKONS to continue supporting her bandmates in her absence. “Please continue to support and cheer on my girls!!!”

Sophia first announced her hiatus from KATSEYE in August, when HYBE x Geffen said she would be taking personal time away in order to focus on her health. At the time, the company said she would be taking an extended period of rest and that her condition would be reassessed.

In addition to Sophia’s hiatus, fellow member Manon Bannerman also has been on a break since February, though no update has been provided on her future participation with the group.

Though Sophia and Manon have been away, KATSEYE has been collecting milestone after milestone. In August, the girl group scored its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with its third EP, WILD. The following month, the group kicked off its WILDWORLD tour in Europe and the U.K., and is set to begin the North American run next week in Miami. The trek will hit cities including Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles before wrapping in Mexico City on Nov. 27.
