Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja Releases New Songs for Gaza Documentary

Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja has co-curated an contributed several songs and remixes to the soundtrack to a new Gaza documentary called Life Support. Out today, the soundtrack features three Del Naja originals—under his 3D alias—plus a remix of Kneecap’s “Palestine” [ft. Fawzi]. Another track, credited to the Five Techniques collective, features Paul Weller, David Holmes, and Róisín El Cherif. Listen to the whole soundtrack below. All profits from vinyl sales will go to the Health Workers 4 Palestine solidarity fund, according to a press release.
The Life Support website explains that the fim draws from the testimonies and footage from international doctors allowed into Gaza. A synopsis reads, “Covering the entire two years of the genocide, their first-hand accounts and visceral footage offer a rare and vital chronicle of the daily struggles of healthcare workers as they navigate bombed-out hospitals, dwindling supplies, starvation and the overwhelming influx of casualties—predominantly women and children.”
Other contributors to the soundtrack include Yasmine Hamdan, Habib Shehada Hanna, Massar Egbari, 47Soul, and Siba and Monkyman. The film is now streaming on demand, with dozens of screenings lined up, predominantly in the United Kingdom and Ireland, alongside Q&As with the filmmakers.
Del Naja was one of hundreds of protesters arrested in London in April for holding a placard in support of the activist group Palestine Action, which is banned under UK terrorism law.
