The first Generation of Pokémon will arguably always be the most beloved. Nearly every time The Pokémon Company International runs an event, it's full of iconic Gen 1 characters, more than any other era of the series. Pikachu is always front and center, but the core starter trio gets a lot of love, along with original creatures like Mewtwo.
One of those beloved Pokémon is Gyarados. In addition to having a big role in the original game, it also returned in a major way in Gold & Silver, cementing its place in history. Thanks to a new reveal from the Pokémon Center, we also get a new look at another design, and this time it really shines compared toother iterations.
Gyarados Returns In Style
Now live in the Pokémon Center storefront, you can find the Pokémon Center × Bear Walker: Shiny Gyarados Skateboard Deck: "Combine skating and Pokémon together and you get something awesome—this custom-designed Shiny Gyarados skateboard deck by Bear Walker! Handcrafted from beautiful maple wood, this street deck features a full-color scene with iridescent foil effects that shimmer in the light."
You'll get the Bear Walker skateboard deck for $129.99 USD, including a certificate of authenticity. It supports up to 225 lb, and the design is the iconic Shiny Gyarados from the Lake of Rage, first featured in Gen 2. Anyone who has played through that Generation will recall that moment, since it's a brief, but memorable aspect of your Johto journey.
For reference, the Lake of Rage first appeared in the Johto region of the series, in Gold & Silver on the Game Boy Color. Legend has it that Gyarados raged and created the lake, which is now occupied by a red Shiny Gyarados that menaces the locals. It later appeared in the Gen 2 remakes HeartGold & SoulSilver.
Beyond revisiting Generation 1, Gen 2 is beloved for a reason. Johto expands the original region's scope quite a bit, offering tons of nooks and crannies to explore, puzzles to solve, a day-night cycle that affects who you catch, and much more. It's a memorable entry that cemented many fans' love for Pokémon after the original cast its spell.
Shiny Gyarados Is A Classic
The Pokémon Company International was heavily promoting these decks at Pokémon Worlds + XP 2026, complete with a half-pipe setup for actual skaters to run. All the available styles adorned the outside of the course, and they really stuck out in person with vibrant colors.
Other characters include Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, shiny Magikarp, Team Rocket, Mewtwo, and Mew. Sold-out decks include Sylveon, Umbreon, Espeon, Gengar, Dragonite, Pikachu, Leafeon, Charizard, Jolteon, Eevee, Vaporeon, Flareon, Garchomp, Tyranitar, Dragapult, and Glaceon.
As always, the Eeveelutions are still very popular, as are a number of Gen 1 Pokémon where the supply exceeded the demand. It's rare to see one Eeveelution supported for any given release: typically you have to include them all, or none at all. Since it's still the best-selling Generation, The Pokémon Company will be dipping into the Gen 1 pool for a long time.
