Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Buffy and Angel are back together in a surprising new release that will be available to purchase beginning in September.

Sarah Michelle Gellar played Buffy Summers for all seven seasons of Joss Whedon's supernatural series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 2003. David Boreanaz, who played her love interest, Angel, started in a recurring capacity before becoming a main cast member; he eventually got his own spinoff called Angel.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel may have ended in 2003 and 2004, respectively, but the titular characters are back together now that Mattel is releasing a Monster High Skullector two-pack doll set of Buffy and Angel on September 4 at 9 a.m. PT, which was announced by Monster High on Instagram.

Buffy's doll is 10.5 inches tall with 11 points of articulation and includes a Slayer handbook purse, a stake and a crossbow; she's wearing a black faux-leather jacket, red pants, a holster belt and boots with weapons built into the heels.

Angel's doll is 11 inches tall with 13 points of articulation; he's clad in an all-black outfit and has a sword necklace.

Before Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gellar was best known for All My Children. Then she landed the role of the titular vampire slayer in the supernatural series alongside co-stars Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head and Boreanaz. While attending high school, Buffy battles against vampires, demons and other evil forces.

Gellar's performance as Buffy earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, and she won at the Kids' Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and Saturn Awards.

Amid the huge success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which has an 85% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, The WB launched the spinoff Angel, with Boreanaz reprising his character.

Like with Buffy, Angel also earned positive reviews from critics (with an 85% score) and several award show nominations and wins. After five seasons, Angel came to an end in 2004, one year after the series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

After Buffy ended, Gellar went on to star in movies like Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, The Grudge and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and the TV shows Ringer, The Crazy Ones, Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Star Search.

Meanwhile, Boreanaz continued landing major roles on TV, most notably on the Fox procedural Bones, which aired for 12 seasons. He then starred on SEAL Team, which ended in 2024 after seven seasons.

For years, there has been talk of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival. In 2025, Hulu began officially developing a new version of Buffy, with Gellar returning on-screen and serving as an executive producer. The cast and crew filmed a pilot, but earlier this year, Hulu chose not to move forward with the project.

Even though the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival is no longer in the works, fans can keep the franchise alive with the brand-new Monster High dolls of Buffy and Angel.
