Nicolas Cage's Wild Action Thriller Abruptly Sets Release Date For Next Month

Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.
Nicolas Cage has a brand-new action thriller coming out in less than two months after it was just acquired by a distributor.
Cage is coming off of the shocking news that Prime Video's Spider-Noir was canceled after just one season, but the actor still has several other projects on the horizon, including the John Madden biopic Madden on November 18 and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse next year. He also filmed Lords of War and Best Pancakes in the County, among others.
That latter project now has a release date. Best Pancakes in the County, which has just been acquired by Independent Film Company (IFC) for distribution in the United States, will be released in theaters on November 20, 2026, according to Deadline. The film will also be available on digital platforms that same day.
Cage plays an eccentric criminal known as The S.O.B., who gets caught in the crosshairs when there's a standoff between rogue federal agents, a con man and a mysterious waitress at a small-town diner. Everyone involved attempts to survive by outthinking and outgunning their opponents.
Starring with Cage in Best Pancakes in the County are Justin Long, Shelley Hennig, Lauren German, Ravi Patel, Brandon Mychal Smith, Kelly Greyson, Jaylen Moore and Michael Sirow.
Alongside this news, an image from Best Pancakes in the County has been released that centers on Cage's character. Check out the photo below:
In a statement, IFC Chief Acquisition Officer Mark Ward explained that the Ken Sanzel-directed film is "the kind of eccentric and wildly entertaining ride that Nicolas Cage does better than anyone else," and it's a "tense, funny and unpredictable thriller."
Mark Ward: “Best Pancakes In The County is exactly the kind of eccentric and wildly entertaining ride that Nicolas Cage does better than anyone else. Ken has built a tense, funny and unpredictable thriller around a fantastic ensemble, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience the chaos this November.”
Sanzel, who also wrote the script, added that he wants to take what appears to be an ordinary diner and "fill it with people with dueling and hidden agendas," then "juxtapose the threat of violence with the urgency of getting breakfast orders right." The pressure keeps increasing until "everything explodes."
Ken Sanzel: “Working with Nic again was an opportunity to create a character who could be funny, dangerous and completely unpredictable from one moment to the next. And then he took it to wilder and more unexpected places than I could have imagined. We wanted to take this seemingly ordinary diner, fill it with people with dueling and hidden agendas, juxtapose the threat of violence with the urgency of getting breakfast orders right, and keep turning up the pressure until everything explodes. IFC immediately understood the fast, fun tone of the film, and I’m excited to have them bringing it to audiences.”
Best Pancakes in the County serves as a reunion for Sanzel and Cage after they worked together on Kill Chain in 2019. The filmmaker has also directed Blunt Force Trauma, Scar City and Lone Hero, and worked on the TV shows Numb3rs and Blue Bloods, among others.
The producing team consists of Eduard Osipov, Eric Brenner, Raja Collins, Gary Preisler, Niko Fomenko, Audra Gricius, John D. Straley, Lance Kawas, Jina Panebianco, Eugene Pruss, Ahmed S. Boomrod and Nadine de Barros.
Nicolas Cage may have taken a detour into television this year with Spider-Noir, but he'll be back on the big screen this fall as he adds to his extensive resume of films that includes Moonstruck, The Rock, Face/Off, Adaptation, National Treasure, Ghost Rider, Snowden and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
Best Pancakes in the County will be released in theaters on Friday, November 20, 2026.
