‘Panchayat’ Season 5: Anurag Saikia hints at what’s next for Jitendra Kumar’s Phulera journey, says makers are exploring 'new sounds while keeping the show’s soul intact'

Music composer Anurag Saikia is set to return to the fictional village of Phulera with the new season of 'Panchayat', continuing his work on one of streaming's most loved musical landscapes. While ensuring the show's familiar tune stays intact for its fans, the composer is also letting the score grow along with the show's characters and storyline.

Alongside this, Saikia is delving into folk-inspired sounds through his composition 'Jalwa-E-Jaanaan', part of the musical venture 'Maati'.

Talking to Variety India about his return to 'Panchayat', Anurag Saikia shared, "The most beautiful thing about 'Panchayat' is that you never really know where the story is going. It can surprise you, make you laugh and suddenly make you emotional. So the music has to have that same unpredictability.

We've tried to explore that while keeping the soul of 'Panchayat' intact. I can't wait for people to hear what we've been cooking this season.

Anurag Saikia bids goodbye to 'Mismatched'

While his journey with 'Panchayat' continues, Saikia's association with another popular streaming show is coming to an end. Having composed memorable tracks for 'Mismatched' such as 'Ishq Hai' and various renditions of 'Aise Kyun', the composer revealed he won't be part of the show's final season.

"I'm not a part of this season," he confirmed.He further added, "My association with 'Mismatched' has been incredibly beautiful and emotional. From the Bossa Nova version of 'Aise Kyun,' to Rekhaji's (Rekha Bhardwaj's) version, and then 'Ishq Hai', I feel I've given this journey all my heart. It has been a very special chapter for me. But sometimes, you also have to know when to step back and let someone else take the journey forward. I chose to do that with a lot of love and gratitude, carrying only good memories with me."
