Moffi happy with first Bundesliga goal
Terem Moffi opened his league scoring account for Hamburg dramatically, helping spark a stunning comeback victory over Hoffenheim with a late equaliser on Saturday.
The Super Eagles striker came off the bench to make an immediate impact, heading home Miro Muheim’s superb cross before the Swiss defender struck a 94th-minute winner to complete Hamburg’s remarkable turnaround at the SNP Arena.
Introduced in the 76th minute with Hamburg trailing 2-1, Moffi needed just 14 minutes to change the game’s momentum. His crucial header restored parity and gave the hosts renewed belief before Muheim delivered the decisive blow deep into stoppage time.
Speaking after the thrilling encounter, the Nigerian forward expressed delight at scoring his first league goal for the club and contributing to the victory.
“We’re very proud. I’m happy I was able to help the team with my goal. Miro’s cross was absolutely wonderful. I just had to get into position,” Moffi told Hamburg’s official website.
The former FC Porto attacker revealed that his equaliser convinced him Hamburg could still snatch all three points despite the clock running down.

“After that, I felt we still had a chance to win the game. We managed to do that in the last minute,” he added.
Moffi also praised the travelling Hamburg supporters, describing their presence and backing as extraordinary.
“It’s an extraordinary feeling to see how many HSV fans made the journey to watch the game here. Crazy! We’re grateful to every single one of them for coming,” he said.
The breakthrough goal could prove significant for Moffi as he continues adjusting to life in the Bundesliga. His decisive contribution will boost his confidence and strengthen his case for more playing time.
After turning a late substitute appearance into a match-defining performance, the Super Eagles striker will now hope to build on the momentum and establish himself as a key figure in Hamburg’s attack.
