'They have too much to lose': Trump dismisses claims China, Russia are helping Iran 'at all'

Trump criticised those making the allegations against Beijing and Moscow.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday dismissed claims that China and Russia were helping Iran, saying he did not believe the two countries were providing assistance to Tehran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticised those making the allegations saying he did not believe that Beijing and Moscow were helping Iran "at all," adding that they had "too much to lose"."I see so many comments from the Radical Left Morons and Lunatics that China and Russia are helping the ‘wonderful’ Islamic Republic of Iran," Trump said."If they are, it’s at a very low level, but I don’t believe they are at all. They have too much to lose, and we would know about it, and know about it very fast! Thank you for your attention to this matter," he added.Trump has previously described Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin as "neutral" in the conflict.Moscow and Beijing maintain close ties with Tehran, although both have publicly criticised aspects of the US-led military campaign, Reuters reported.Earlier, Russia has warned that the war could trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, while China has condemned Washington's attacks on Iran as a brazen violation of the country's sovereignty.Last month, Trump warned Xi against providing military support to Iran during the Chinese leader's visit to Washington, according to the US ambassador to China, who said Beijing had assured Washington it would not do so.

The warning came amid reports that China had supplied Iran with shoulder-fired air-defence missile launchers and helped Tehran find ways to circumvent sanctions on its oil exports. The United States and Iran have been at war since February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched attacks on Iran. Tehran retaliated with strikes on Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military bases. US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon have since killed thousands of people and displaced millions.
