However, the makers are yet to officially announce the film’s digital premiere date. A theatrical-to-OTT window of around 45 to 60 days is common for Bollywood releases, although the exact timeline can vary depending on the film and its streaming agreement. The third instalment brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkar, Tabu as Meera Deshmukh and Ishita Dutta as Anju Salgaonkar. Abhishek Pathak on why 'Drishyam 3: The Conclusion' had to feel final

Director Abhishek Pathak has previously spoken about the challenge of making a third 'Drishyam' film while ensuring that it did not feel like another instalment added simply to extend the franchise.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pathak said the title itself placed a major responsibility on the team. “The biggest responsibility with this film was that it is called The Conclusion. You cannot just make another film and say this is Part 3. It has to actually take the characters somewhere and give the audience a feeling that this journey has reached its final point. It has to be a high!”The filmmaker said the writing process took considerable time because the story was complex and the team wanted the ending to feel earned.

He also made it clear that he did not want the franchise to continue with another instalment simply for the sake of making a 'Drishyam 4.'“It took us a lot of time to write it because it is not an easy film. It is a very complex and complicated story and we wanted to make sure that the conclusion felt earned. Even when people were asking why not Part 4, for me 'Drishyam' cannot go into 4 just for the sake of going into 4. It has to end on a very good note, and I feel this is a very good note,” Pathak told the afore mentioned publication.

How Abhishek Pathak connected the film to the 'Drishyam' universe

Pathak also revealed that the team revisited the first two films while developing the concluding chapter. The intention was to retain the details and emotional familiarity associated with the franchise while giving the third film its own identity.“I was very conscious that this is 'Drishyam' and people have a certain expectation from this world. So we have kept that detailing. When we were writing, we went back to the first two films and looked at the details and brought those elements into this film because I wanted people to feel that nostalgia and feel that all the parts are connected,” he said.At the same time, Pathak wanted the new film to move beyond simply reproducing elements audiences had already seen. “I really wanted to write it my own way, take the story ahead in the way I wanted and make my own version of the last part. So the world and the DNA are very much Drishyam, but the story and the way we have taken it forward is ours,” he added.

What is ‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’ about?

‘Drishyam 3 : The Conclusion’ continues the story of Vijay Salgaonkar and his family as the consequences of the events from the earlier films continue to follow them.

The film once again combines family drama with crime and psychological suspense, while exploring the question of how far a person can go to protect his family.Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Vijay, while Tabu returns as Meera Deshmukh. With Jaideep Ahlawat joining the franchise, the third chapter introduces another important presence into the story as Vijay’s carefully constructed world comes under renewed pressure.

‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’ box office performance

The film has opened strongly at the domestic box office. ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ collected Rs 62 crore on Day 1 from 15,759 shows before adding another Rs 53.50 crore on Day 2 from 16,868 shows. Its two-day India net stood at Rs 115.50 crore, while the film had recorded a worldwide gross of Rs 177.10 crore by the end of Day 2. With Day 3 live tracking at the time of writing, the film has crossed the Rs 150 crore domestic net milestone, according to Sacnilk.
