Arjun Das confirms he WAS in talks with Farhan Akhtar for ‘Don 3’: 'It was supposed to happen, but now it's not'

‘Don 3’ has remained a hot topic, even as casting changes have pushed Farhan Akhtar to put it on hold. With no clear word on where the film stands, Arjun Das has now broken his silence, confirming that he was approached for the project and that he and Farhan had discussed working together on it.

Arjun Das breaks silence on 'Don 3'

Speaking to News18 about whether he had really been cast in ‘Don 3’, Arjun said, “I was very, very fortunate to have received a call from Farhan sir. We did meet, humne discuss bhi kiya tha, but unfortunately, that isn’t happening now."Expressing his hope of collaborating with Farhan in the future, Arjun said, “But I am hoping, and I hope I get to work with Farhan sir soon. I think he is one of the sweetest and most humble people I have met."

He wrapped up by adding, “So, yes, I don’t want to lie about it. It was supposed to happen, but now it’s not happening." Although ‘Don 3’ is off the table, Arjun will soon be seen in a Hindi project. Talking about it, he revealed, “I finished one Hindi film.

It is in post-production, so, yeah, I don’t know when it is going to release."

Arjun Das was set to play the villain in 'Don 3'

Arjun was reportedly set to play the villain in ‘Don 3’, stepping in for Vikrant Massey. His grey-shaded turns, first in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi and later in Master, won audiences over with their intensity.

Addressing the risk of being typecast in an interview with us, the actor said, “I have stayed away from negative roles because it’s very easy to get typecast when the public see you in a certain way. Again, I would say that all credit to Lokesh that he has written that role so well that people see me as that.

"Asked whether he is now deliberately picking roles that go against his villain image, he said, “Consciously, maine kabhi aise roles choose nahi kiye hain.

It has not been a conscious decision, but I am just glad that directors and producers are coming up with different roles, and they have that faith in me that I can pull it off."

Ranveer Singh exits 'Don 3' after teaser

Ranveer Singh was introduced as the new Don in the ‘Don 3’ teaser, but he later exited the project. Taking over a character associated with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan was a huge branding opportunity for him, and perhaps one of the biggest role inheritances Bollywood has seen in recent times. But the conflict soon spilled out of private conversations. Following reported financial losses, Farhan Akhtar and

Ritesh Sidhwani

reached out to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), and that move put several details of the dispute in public view for the first time. The federation then announced a "non-cooperation directive" against Ranveer, essentially a shadow ban. In reply, he sent a legal notice contending that FWICE had no say in a private contractual matter. A week on, the federation took back its directive.
