Coronation Street confirms "comeuppance" in Jodie's dark story

Coronation Street's Jodie Ramsey has been planning to replace her sister Shona in life and marriage for months now, and the storyline will reach a dramatic peak next week.
There will be a showdown between siblings that threatens to turn fatal when gunshots are heard throughout the cobbles.

While the scenes are going to be thrilling to watch, they might have been even more fun to film, as actor Olivia Frances Brown teased.
"It was so exciting!" she said. "It's not every day at work that someone brings out a real weapon — with a professional gun handler on set to show you how to use it safely.
"When I read the script, I knew it could truly be anyone getting shot…"
Although the star didn't reveal what would happen, she did tease that things may not go Jodie's way.
She added: "It's definitely been a long time coming for it to blow up between Jodie and Shona. Let's just say... somebody is about to get their comeuppance and you'll just need to watch to find out!"

Frances Brown also explained that she feels like Jodie's behaviour started out as a way to "make herself feel a bit better", but the way things have spiralled, it's actually gone completely out of her control.
Still, she said it was "a lot of fun" playing such a "sneaky" character, stating: "Playing a character with a dark, sinister edge is great because I don't get to do much of that in real life — or so I'd hope!"
But while Jodie is manipulative and dark, she "genuinely does care" about Lily Platt, relating to her "innocence and childlike qualities" since she's never really grown up herself.
And, according to the actor: "When Jodie feels genuine love from someone, she'll go to extreme lengths to protect them".
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
