Man shot dead in broad daylight on Zamboanga City street

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur  – A 40-year-old man was shot dead by still unidentified assailants in Barangay Malagutay, Zamboanga City, Wednesday morning.

The victim, a resident of Barangay Lunzuran, Zamboanga City, was found lying on the ground beside his black single motorcycle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Local police said they received a report from a concerned citizen regarding the shooting at around 10:28 a.m.

Responding medics from the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO) assessed the victim at the scene and confirmed the fatal head wound.

Responding police officers immediately secured and cordoned off the area pending the arrival of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process physical evidence.

Investigators questioned nearby residents to identify potential witnesses, establish where the suspect escaped, and determine the motive behind the attack.

Follow-up operations and a review of available CCTV footage in the area are ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrator./coa
