Texas vs Ohio State: Live updates, TV/streaming info, betting lines for season opener
Texas football can make a major statement Saturday when Ohio State visits Royal-Memorial Stadium.
The No. 4 Longhorns (1-0) have lost both of their meetings with the No. 1 Buckeyes (1-0) over the past two seasons, primarily because a punchless offense produced as many turnovers as touchdowns in a 28-14 loss in a 2024 College Football Playoff semifinal and 14-7 setback in last year's opener in Columbus, Ohio.

But this Texas team boasts one of the most impressive rosters in college football. Arch Manning returns as one of the country's best and most ballyhooed quarterbacks, and Texas opened its thick wallet in the transfer portal to bolster holes on the offensive line and sign star playmakers such as receiver Cam Coleman and running backs Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers.
Sixth-year head coach Steve Sarkisian also overhauled the defense by firing defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and bringing in Will Muschamp.
Ohio State's offense can match Texas when it comes to playmakers. Sophomore quarterback Julian Sayin joins Manning as one of the Heisman favorites, and receiver Jeremiah Smith, a 6-3, 223-pound junior, "could be the best player in college football," Sarkisian said.
