Ilocos cops seize P2.49M worth of drugs in weeklong raids


SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Sixty-nine suspected drug peddlers were arrested, and more than P2.49 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate police operations across the Ilocos Region from Aug. 15 to 21, police said on Sunday.
The Ilocos regional police office said its operatives confiscated 365.519 grams of suspected shabu and 36.3 grams of dried marijuana leaves during the weeklong operations. Collectively, the seized contraband had an estimated standard drug price of P2,489,885.20.

One of the major operations was conducted on Aug. 19 in Calasiao, Pangasinan, where a 46-year-old suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 1, or the Ilocos Region.

Police said they recovered about 116.57 grams of suspected shabu from the suspect, with an estimated value of P792,676 based on the standard drug price.
