Amazon recently announced it’s phasing out its Fire HD tablets in favor of much pricier Alexa Tablets. While the days of getting an affordable, but good tablet from Amazon seem to be coming to an end, you can still get a fantastic deal on the ad-supported Amazon Fire HD 10. It has dropped to a new low of $72.99 ($82 off) at Amazon. While it’s far from the fastest tablet out there, it’s a solid option for watching movies, reading books, or browsing the web. And, it’ll continue to get security updates.

$73

The Fire HD 10 is one of the nicer models in Amazon’s budget-friendly Fire lineup, and at its current price, is actually slightly cheaper than the Fire HD 8. The Fire HD 10 offers a spacious, sharper 10.1-inch 1080p display that makes watching shows and reading more enjoyable than on the Fire HD 8’s smaller, lower-res screen. It also offers better front-facing cameras for video calls and up to 13 hours of battery life, so you don’t need to worry about it dying during long road trips or flights.

If the 32GB of built-in storage isn’t enough, there’s a microSD card slot for expanding it up to 1TB, so you can download more apps, movies, shows, and books for offline use. Plus, Amazon’s tablet has a 3.5mm headphone jack — something you won’t find on newer iPads. If you’re really into smart assistants, the Fire HD 10 supports Alexa Plus, which Prime members can access for free. Amazon’s upgraded AI assistant can handle more complex requests and is particularly useful for managing your smart home, though we’ve had mixed results with other tasks.

You may be aware that the Fire HD 10 runs Amazon’s Fire OS rather than Android (the new Alexa Tablets support Google Play Store out of the box). However, it’s possible to sideload Android apps onto it with relative ease, though keep in mind that the Fire HD 10’s low-end specs might mean that your favorite Android apps and games might not run all that well.
