No, Rosalía Is Not on U2’s New Album (But Did Inspire a Song)

Sorry, Rosalía fans: She is not secretly featured on the new U2 album.

U2 announced their 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, on Thursday, revealing a tracklist that immediately raised eyebrows thanks to its fourth song: “The Mirror Maker (Rosalía).” The title understandably led some fans, and publications, to conclude that the Spanish superstar appears on the track.

Not quite. A source confirmed to Consequence that the Spanish superstar is not listed among the album’s collaborators (although the late Dolly Parton is!)

“Rosalía inspired the song,” the source said. “She’s not on it.”

Carnaval De Luz, U2’s first album of new material in nine years, arrives November 13th. The band hasn’t released a traditional album since 2017, although they did revisit their catalog with 2023’s Songs of Surrender and unveiled new material with last year’s EPs Days of Ash and Easter Lily.

The band also shared new single “Silencio” alongside Thursday’s announcement. Check out the video for Silencio below.
