I stood in front of Shinjuku Station’s east exit, holding a simple poster with two words: “NO WAR.”

It was February 2025 and it was getting cold as we stood there for hours in one of Tokyo’s busiest districts.

And yet, it was a pleasure. Back in my native Russia, one can only protest for mere minutes before a police officer notices you and shuts the demonstration down.
