Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis was recently asked to pick a dream team comprising only Indian and Pakistan players. Widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, Waqar made some surprising selections that left fans intrigued. Having made his international debut in 1989, he went on to play 87 Tests and 262 ODIs for Pakistan, claiming 373 and 416 wickets respectively. The 54-year-old featured in numerous India-Pakistan clashes and experienced the intensity of the rivalry firsthand.

Recently, Waqar appeared on the Shubhankar Mishra Podcast, where he took part in a rapid-fire segment to build a combined India-Pakistan XI. Much to everyone's surprise, he selected only one Pakistan player, with the rest of his choices coming from India.

Here's how the rapid fire round went:

Q: Sachin Tendulkar or Inzamam-ul-Haq?

A: Sachin Tendulkar.

Q: Virat Kohli or Babar Azam?

During the segment, Waqar was also asked to choose between 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Pakistan's 20-year-old youngster Sameer Minhas. However, he declined to pick either player, saying he had not watched enough of them to make a fair assessment.

Meanwhile, Indian cricket is currently focused on an all-format tour of New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer and his team have already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series, which will be followed by a five-Test series and two ODIs.

On the other hand, Pakistan are currently competing in a home ODI tri-series featuring England and Sri Lanka. After registering three consecutive victories, the hosts secured a place in the final, where they will face Sri Lanka on Saturday.
