KAI offers 30 percent discount on for year-end holidays

Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) offers a 30 percent ticket discount for economy class train tickets during the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year travel period to boost mobility and maintain purchasing power.
“Ahead of the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year holidays, people can enjoy train travel at lower cost through the 30 percent ticket discount stimulus from the government,” KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said here on Sunday.
The program, initiated by the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Directorate General of Railways at the Transportation Ministry, aims to maintain purchasing power while stimulating tourism and regional economic activity during the year-end holidays.
Purba said that KAI supports the program by opening ticket bookings from November 7, 2026. The discount applies to commercial economy class trains departing from December 22, 2026 to January 4, 2027.
“Passengers can get the discounted fare through all official KAI ticket sales channels, including the Access by KAI application, which makes it easy for customers to choose schedules, check ticket availability, and complete bookings,” she said.
According to her, the discount lets people allocate travel budgets to other needs, from accommodation to tourist activities.
“We hope more families can enjoy year-end holidays while supporting economic activity in various regions,” Purba added.
The national Christmas and New Year transport stimulus program covers rail, air, sea, and ferry modes for travel from December 17, 2026 to January 10, 2027, with each mode having its own provisions and discount period.
The stimulus program comes as public mobility rises. From January to October 2026, KAI Group served 442.52 million customers, up 6.86 percent from the same period last year.
For KAI’s long-distance and local train services alone, customers reached 49.9 million, up 8.99 percent from January-October 2025.
