The official age rating for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been revealed, and it isn't likely to surprise anyone familiar with the series. Rockstar's flagship crime franchise is known for pushing boundaries and scandalizing parents, a tradition that the latest entry appears to be following.
For a quick recap, an ESRB rating of M for Mature has long been the series standard for Grand Theft Auto, with the original T rating for Grand Theft Auto 2 being a notable exception. Rockstar has already shown enough of GTA 6 to suggest that the rating would fall in line with previous entries, and the website has now confirmed it.
Courtesy of the official Rockstar Games website, GTA 6 will be rated M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. In short, GTA 6 will have it all, at least as far as content inappropriate for children goes.
While it might be tempting to take some inferences away from the list here, it's not actually enough to suggest that the franchise is pushing any boundaries that it hasn't pushed before. The overall list is exactly identical to the Grand Theft Auto 5 rating, although exactly how the game represents each of these vices will no doubt differ in the implementation.
