With this year celebrating 40 years of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise, it makes sense that fans are being treated to plenty of exciting announcements. Not only can we expect the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 next month, but we have also received news of brand-new music, collectibles, hardware, and more over the past year.
As one of the most successful franchises of all time, it is no wonder that Zelda is still going strong over four decades on, and now it seems as though Nintendo is working on a release that celebrates the series in its entirety, including all of the mainline video game entries, as well as its many spin-offs, styles, and timelines.
As such, fans can look forward to The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection, a trading card game from Nintendo made in partnership with Italian company Panini. However, what makes this release all the more exciting, is that it will feature artwork from every major installment in The Legend of Zelda franchise, including:
- The Legend of Zelda
- The Adventures of Link
- A Link to the Past
- Link's Awakening
- Ocarina of Time
- Majora's Mask
- Oracle of Seasons
- Oracle of Ages
- Four Swords
- The Wind Waker
- Four Swords Adventures
- The Minish Cap
- Twilight Princess
- Phantom Hourglass
- Spirit Tracks
- Skyward Sword
- A Link Between Worlds
- Tri Force Heroes
- Breath of the Wild
- Tears of the Kingdom
- Echoes of Wisdom
Artwork will represent the entire history of The Legend of Zelda franchise, starring the likes of Link and Zelda as they appear in classic favorites such as Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker, as well as more recent entries such as the Wilds duology. Not only that, but alongside a dedicated album for you to store your brand-new cards, Panini has also revealed the box art for The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection.
It's particularly great to see the oft-neglected Nintendo DS games in the mix here. While Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks aren't typically considered the best games in the series, they definitely have their own charm.
At the time of writing, neither Panini nor Nintendo have revealed any information surrounding the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection, including a release date, price, total number of cards, or distribution plans. However, there is also no denying that fans will be waiting eagerly for this launch, as it does not just offer a simple TCG experience, but instead offers a broad future with nods to every single entry in the long-running universe. Not only that, but with Panini being no stranger to cards and stickers, it seems as though The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection is in good hands.
With underrated titles such as Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks also starring in this brand-new release, it is guaranteed to feature something for everyone, and who knows? Maybe it will be as big as the Pokémon Trading Card Game some day.
