China visit opens new investment, trade opportunities, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou has opened new opportunities for Malaysia to tap investment potential and strengthen trade cooperation with China, bringing shared benefits to the people of both countries.

Anwar said the visit also showcased Malaysia's capabilities on the international stage through the country's participation in the WorldSkills Competition and Summit, as well as the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE).

"My working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou has yielded meaningful results, particularly in tapping investment potential and trade cooperation that will bring shared benefits and prosperity to the people of Malaysia and China," he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar also said Malaysia had conveyed its firm position on the importance of ensuring that developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and technological advancement did not come at the expense of human values.

He said dialogue and cooperation must continue to be strengthened amid global competition and uncertainty to build a fairer and more equitable world.

"In pursuing developments in AI and technological advancement, humanity and values must not be sidelined.

"Amid global competition that is creating uncertainty, we must move forward through dialogue and cooperation to build a fairer and more equitable world," he said.

Anwar said Malaysia-China diplomatic relations were now at their highest level and the momentum should be harnessed to explore opportunities and pioneer new areas of cooperation.

"Malaysia and China should capitalise on this friendship to continue exploring opportunities and pioneering new and more promising areas of cooperation.

"The Madani Diplomacy Tour will continue to be driven for the people and our beloved Malaysia," he said.
