‘Cobra Kai’ & ‘Blue Beetle’ Actor Xolo Maridueña To Make Broadway Debut In ‘Buena Vista Social Club’

Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña will make his Broadway debut when he joins Buena Vista Social Club for seven weeks beginning Tuesday, November 17.

Maridueña will assume the role of Juan De Marcos through Sunday, January 3, 2027, at Broadway’s Schoenfeld Theatre.

“I’m honored to be making my Broadway debut with the incredibly talented team at Buena Vista Social Club,” said Maridueña. “Broadway has always been a dream, but getting to make that dream come true while being part of such an important and beautiful story feels like hitting the lottery twice. Come ready to laugh, cry, and shake your booty!”

Since opening on Broadway in March 2025, Buena Vista Social Club has been among Broadway’s more popular musicals, earning five Tony Awards and a Grammy Award. The musical tells the story of the legendary Cuban artists behind the Grammy Award-winning Buena Vista Social Club album and the music that introduced the sounds of Havana to audiences around the world.

The production recently announced that Gina Torres (Suits) will join the musical in the role of Omara Portuondo from Tuesday, October 13 through Sunday, November 29. Major League Baseball veteran and recording artist José Iglesias, known to music fans as Candelita, joined on August 27 through November 15, and former New York Yankee Bernie Williams will be joining for six weeks only from October 22 through November 29.

Maridueña launched his career at the age of 10 in 2012 when he landed the role of Victor on NBC’s hit drama series Parenthood, and then played Miguel Diaz in Netflix’s Cobra Kai, which aired its final episode in 2025. He recently starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in the film Practical Magic 2, and starred as the title character of DC Comics’ Blue Beetle (2023) and will return in next year’s sequel.
