#SHOWBIZ: Reclusive 'Home Improvement' star Jonathan Taylor Thomas detained after alleged police clash

LOS ANGELES: Former teenage heart-throb Jonathan Taylor Thomas has run into trouble with the law after a fiery encounter with police in California.

The 45-year-old former child star—best known for playing middle child Randy Taylor on the hit 1990s sitcom Home Improvement—was riding as a passenger when the car was pulled over by officers in Westlake Village on Monday, according to news.com.au.

When Thomas tried to step out of the vehicle, police ordered him to stay inside.

However, the actor refused to cooperate and ignored their demands.

As a result, Thomas was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and obstructing or resisting an officer. Official jail records show he was booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station before being released shortly afterwards.

The star, who has spent years away from the spotlight, has not yet made a public comment about the incident. Thomas is not the only member of the beloved sitcom family to face legal trouble.

His former on-screen dad, Tim Allen, served over two years in federal prison after a 1978 drug arrest, and later completed probation following a drink-driving charge in 1997.

Meanwhile, his TV brother, Zachery Ty Bryan, has faced a string of arrests in recent years, serving time behind bars for domestic violence and assault.
