Cinema United Sets New Executive Promotions

Trade association Cinema United has appointed Amanda Martin to the newly created role of senior vice president of external affairs, also promoting Erin Von Hoetzendorff to vice president of membership and global affairs.

“As exhibition continues to evolve, Cinema United is evolving with it,” said Michael O’Leary, the president and CEO of Cinema United. “These two well-deserved promotions will allow us to strengthen our partnerships across the entertainment ecosystem, deepen our advocacy on behalf of all theatre owners and expand our engagement with international theater owners, ensuring that every constituency we serve has a strong voice within our organization. Amanda and Erin are critical to our success, and in these new roles, they will have even greater impact on the direction and future of Cinema United.”

Both appointments begin immediately and are aimed to reflect Cinema United’s incentive to meet the needs of exhibition today and in the near future. The organization serves as the largest exhibition trade organization in the world, representing more than 60,000 movie screens globally.

“Together, these roles will help Cinema United serve exhibition more completely and effectively than ever before,” O’Leary added. “One strengthens our connections across the industry itself and elevates our advocacy on behalf of our members; the other strengthens our connection to theater owners around the world. Both are essential to how we grow and represent our members going forward.”

Martin previously held the role of chief of staff for three years and will continue to serve as a senior member of Cinema United’s leadership team. In her new role, she will strengthen the organization’s relationships, lead educational programming for industry events and oversee its state government affairs function. Martin will also continue to serve as a federal advocate before Congress and federal agencies alongside O’Leary.

Von Hoetzendorff joined Cinema United in 2018, previously serving as the head of membership services. She will now lead the organization’s engagement with international theater owners, building on Cinema United’s mission to provide representation and support for exhibitors across the world.
