H20 forum strengthens the global halal ecosystem: BPJPH

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasized the role of the 5th Halal 20 (H20) Summit in strengthening global halal ecosystem collaboration.

"Halal is not just for Muslims. It also relates to health, transparency, and traceability. Halal is a symbol of health, double clean," Hasan stated in Jakarta on Saturday regarding the 5th H20 Summit.

The 5th Halal 20 (H20) Summit serves as a strategic forum for strengthening global collaboration and building the halal ecosystem.

The forum, themed "Bridging Bridges: Connecting Nations & Stronger Partnerships through Global Halal Trade & Economy," is attended by 450 participants from 48 countries and runs until Sunday (Sept 20).

The forum brings together halal agencies, regulators, halal certification bodies, industry players, and various stakeholders from around the world to discuss strengthening halal governance, facilitating cross-border trade, and fostering the broader development of the halal economy.

At the forum, attended by hundreds of domestic and international stakeholders in halal product assurance, Hasan highlighted the importance of fostering a widely accepted understanding of halal across different nations.

"The concept of halal is embraced as a healthy and beneficial concept by many people, regardless of their ethnic, national, religious, or cultural backgrounds," he said.

According to him, the development of the halal ecosystem requires a comprehensive perspective.

The halal industry encompasses not only food and beverages but also a wide range of products, such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods, as stipulated in Halal Product Assurance (JPH) regulations.

He also stated that the spirit needs to be translated into cooperation capable of enhancing cross-border halal ecosystem connectivity.

Strengthened cooperation could encompass the mutual recognition of certifications, the harmonization of standards, knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, and the facilitation of cross-border halal product trade, all implemented based on the principle of mutual benefit.

At the regional level, H20 also serves as a forum for dialogue to bolster halal cooperation within ASEAN, including discussions on the establishment of an ASEAN Halal Council.

Strengthening such regional cooperation is part of a broader agenda to enhance ASEAN's connectivity with the global halal ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to make the trade of halal products easier and more transparent while providing greater certainty for business players.
