Susi Air to resume Nagan Raya flights to Medan, Banda Aceh on Nov 2

Nagan Raya, Aceh (ANTARA) - Susi Air is scheduled to resume flights from Cut Nyak Dhien Airport in Nagan Raya District, Aceh Province, to Medan and Banda Aceh on November 2, Nagan Raya District Head Teuku Raja Keumangan said.

“Insya Allah (God willing), starting Nov. 2, Susi Air will resume flights from Nagan Raya to Banda Aceh and Medan,” he said in a statement received here Saturday.

The plan was confirmed after he met Susi Air owner and former marine affairs and fisheries minister Susi Pudjiastuti in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 21.

Acting Nagan Raya Regional Secretary Hizbulwatan accompanied him at the meeting, which focused on restarting flights from Cut Nyak Dhien Airport to destinations in Aceh and North Sumatra.

Under the plan, the Medan route would operate four times a week and the Banda Aceh route twice a week.

Keumangan said resuming flights was a key step in restoring activity at Cut Nyak Dhien Airport, a strategic infrastructure link for southwestern Aceh.

Air traffic at the airport declined after the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020.

The pandemic and subsequent challenges also disrupted air services that residents rely on for travel between regions.

The Nagan Raya administration has continued seeking partnerships to restore flight services from the airport.

“We are doing this to optimize the airport as a transportation link for residents, businesses and regional development,” he said.

Air services offer more than convenient transport, he said, expanding economic access, facilitating travel and strengthening Nagan Raya’s ties with activity centers in Aceh and North Sumatra.
