Charades Boards Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Dream Come True’ As Production Wraps Across Europe

EXCLUSIVE: Charades has acquired international rights to Dream Come True, the third feature film by Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen, best known for his 2021 Cannes Grand Prix-winning Compartment No. 6.
Production has wrapped on the film, which was shot in Denmark, Finland and France.
The film is said to tell the story of 43-year-old Rasmus, a Danish commercial diver who clears blocked drains and welds seams deep underwater for a living. The official synopsis continues: Fortune smiles on him when he discovers a shipwreck during one of his dives, where thousands of pristine bottles of champagne from the world’s oldest drinkable vintage lie hidden – a treasure worth millions. After living with his daughter under his mother’s roof for so long, this could be Rasmus’s ticket to a new life. But a dream come true can come with a few surprises.
Magnus Millang (Another Round), Paprika Steen (Families Like Ours), and newcomer Ellen Kihri star in the film. Producers are Katrin Pors for Snowglobe (Godland) and Jussi Rantamäki for Aamu Film Company (Compartment No. 6) in co-production with One Two Films (Holy Spider). Portobello Productions (Coward) and Kjellson & Wik (Gentle Monster) also co-produce.
Dream Come True will be distributed by Le Pacte in France, Alamode Film in Germany, Scanbox Entertainment in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and B-Plan in Finland.
Kuosmanen’s other credits also include The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, the 2016 Cannes Un Certain Regard Prize winner.
Discussing his new title, Kuosmanen said: “This film fulfills a personal dream of mine to make a movie set by the sea, on its shores and in its depths. Even better, Dream Come True has allowed me to tell a story that is at once hilarious and visually inspiring, together with three brilliant and insanely funny actors. Charades is a perfect partner for this film, which I hope will find an audience all over the world.”
Dream Come True has been supported by the Danish Film Institute, the Finnish Film Foundation, Vestdanske Film Pulje, Business Finland, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the German Federal Film Board, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, DR, Yle, SR, WDR, ARTE, SVT, West Finland Film Commission and Creative Europe MEDIA.
