John Mulaney got bleeped out while quoting some of DJ Khaled‘s questionable life rules about what it means to be a man’s man at Monday night’s 2026 Emmy Awards.

Before Mulaney presented the award for lead actor in a drama, he proclaimed the category as the “best part of the night.” He added: “This award is for the guys. Just men being men. Finally, something for the fellas.” Mulaney then launched into a spiel about men being “historically unrepresented” in television, praising male actors for their “method acting” and others who “do regular, less annoying acting.”

The comedian also read an excerpt from his library-borrowed copy of the 2007 self-help book, A Guy’s Guide to Being a Man’s Man by Goodfellas and The Sopranos actor Frank Vincent. “A man’s man can be wearing the best clothes, drinking the finest wine, sitting with the most beautiful woman in Las Vegas, but if he doesn’t treat everyone around him with respect and class, he’s not a real man’s man,” Mulaney read. “He’s just a jabroni in a good suit.”

Mulaney also referenced the words of fellow wise-guy DJ Khaled, who once quipped there were “different rules for men” when it came to giving oral sex to women, resulting in a very long bleeping for watchers at home. “But these nominees know that that is BS,” Mulaney added. “They know there’s often less pressure on them if they do that first.”

He then presented the award to the category’s winner, Noah Wyle, for The Pitt on HBO.
