Anirudh Ravichander on Mohanlal's 'Jailer' BGM

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has opened up about creating the background score for Mohanlal's character in Rajinikanth's 'Jailer'. The Malayalam actor appeared in the film in a special guest role as Mathew.Anirudh Ravichander explained that the background scores were developed after the characters were finalized.

He said the music was designed according to the personality and setting of each character.Mohanlal's character had a distinct identity within the story. Mathew was introduced as a don based in Bombay who was involved in the gold business.

Why Mohanlal's character got a stylish score

According to Anirudh Ravichander, the nature of Mathew's character influenced the musical treatment. He wanted the score to reflect the character's stylish presence and background.

Anirudh Ravichander discussed the process in a video released by Sun Pictures. He also explained how the two major guest appearances required specially designed background scores.“There are two important guest roles in this. Both of them are superstars from different industries. The BGM has to be set specially according to that. Since Shivarajkumar sir’s character is based in Mangaluru, I created something rooted and suited to the style of our land.

But Lal sir’s character is different. He is a don who runs a gold business in Bombay. So, accordingly, I created a stylish BGM like Pablo’s. I was very happy when I came to know that it worked in the theatres,” Anirudh said.

Mohanlal's Mathew received strong response

Mohanlal's appearance in 'Jailer' became one of positive aspects of the Nelson Dilipkumar's directorial, especially among the Malayali audiences. The actor appeared alongside Rajinikanth in his special role.Meanwhile, the 'Jailer' franchise is returning with its second installment. 'Jailer 2' is scheduled to release on October 15.The sequel brings back several actors from the first film. The cast also includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Hakkim Shajahan. Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan are expected to appear in special roles.Coming to Mohanlal's work front, he was last seen in a cameo role in his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal's debut film 'Thudakkam'.
