The Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division (10ID) on Friday warned the public against an AI-generated image circulating on social media that falsely portrays its troops expressing support for Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa.

"An AI-generated image circulating on social media falsely portrays personnel of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, Philippine Army, as expressing political support for Senator Bato dela Rosa," the 10 ID said.

"The manipulated image misrepresents the professionalism and political neutrality of military personnel by fabricating an endorsement that could mislead the public," it added.

Due to this, the 10ID urged the public to verify information through official sources before sharing unverified posts to help prevent the spread of false information and protect the Army's integrity.

The military reiterated its commitment to professionalism and political neutrality, stressing that it serves the Filipino people without political affiliation or preference.

"The Division stands firmly against disinformation and the misuse of artificial intelligence to misrepresent its personnel, emphasizing that its official positions and statements are communicated only through authorized channels," the 10ID said.

Dela Rosa is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the crimes against humanity case arising from former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs. The senator is accused of being a co-perpetrator in the alleged crimes.

Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local Government claimed that Dela Rosa was hiding in Mindanao under the protection of an "armed and powerful group," but did not identify the organization. — VDV, GMA News
