SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur— The Batac city government inaugurated Ilocos Norte’s first Automated Weather Station (AWS) on Wednesday at Sitio Capaoayan in Barangay Tabug.

The facility aims to provide timely, localized weather information to help farmers make informed decisions about planting schedules, irrigation management, and the application of fertilizers and pesticides.

The station’s weather data can also support the development of agricultural advisories and help farming communities prepare for extreme weather conditions like the prevailing Super El Niño.
