The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged state governments to emulate Kano State’s environmental sanitation efforts, commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for initiatives aimed at keeping the state clean.
Umahi made the commendation on Tuesday, at an All Progressives Congress caucus meeting, held at the Coronation Hall in Kano, where he praised the state government’s sanitation programmes, including Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board, Abubakar Ahmad, the minister was in Kano ahead of the official commissioning of the Kaduna-Kano Road.
“I urge other states to emulate Kano’s efforts, as environmental cleanliness is essential for public health and the well-being of residents,” Umahi said.
“Kano State has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental cleanliness. Other states across Nigeria should learn from its efforts and adopt similar measures to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for their citizens,” the minister was quoted as saying.

The statement noted that the commendation reflected the state government’s efforts to promote a clean and sustainable environment through regular sanitation activities and public participation.
“The Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf programme encourages residents to maintain clean surroundings, dispose of waste properly and support government efforts to protect public health,” the statement added.
The board urged the state government to sustain the sanitation initiatives, stressing the importance of cooperation among government agencies, sanitation workers and residents in maintaining a cleaner environment.
