P100,000 worth of marijuana seedlings uprooted in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY — Police uprooted and burned about 2,500 marijuana seedlings worth P100,000 during an eradication operation in Bakun, Benguet, on Wednesday.
The operation was conducted in Sitio Lubban, Barangay Kayapa, by personnel from the Bakun Municipal Police Station, Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Intelligence Unit-14, with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera.

The plantation was discovered during continuing operations against illegal marijuana cultivation in the region, police said.
Authorities are investigating to identify those behind the plantation and determine whether other marijuana-growing sites are operating nearby. ja
