Two feared dead, several injured in Walewale road crash involving truck, Voxy

Two people are feared dead in a road accident involving an articulated truck carrying cement, a Toyota Voxy and several motorbikes on the Walewale Road on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
Several others sustained injuries, with initial reports indicating that up to 12 people were hurt, some critically.
However, the Municipal Chief Executive for West Mamprusi, Mohammed Jabaah, told Accra-based Citi News that eight people were injured.
The accident reportedly occurred when the articulated truck, travelling from Walewale, collided with the Toyota Voxy, which was heading from Bolgatanga towards Tamale. Several motorbike riders were also caught up in the collision, while the truck reportedly hit electricity poles.
The circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear, with conflicting accounts of which vehicle lost control.
While initial reports suggest the articulated truck lost control, Mr Jabaah said the Toyota Voxy was responsible for the accident.
“There was a collision between the articulated truck, which was carrying POP cement, and the Toyota Voxy. The Voxy lost control, resulting in the accident, involving several vehicles. Two people died and eight were injured,” he said.
The deceased are reported to include a female student and a motorbike rider.
The injured victims were transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and other health facilities for medical attention. Some are reportedly in critical condition.
Investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident and determine what caused the collision.
