Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi signaled stability during trying times by keeping most of her Cabinet intact and leaving top ministers with jobs related to the markets and the economy in their posts.
In the reshuffle Thursday, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama, growth strategy minister Minoru Kiuchi and industry minister Ryosei Akazawa are being retained.
Markets were stable after the announcement, with the Nikkei 225 stock average trading flat and the yen slightly stronger, trading at ¥155.6 to the dollar in the afternoon. The 10-year Japanese government bond strengthened slightly.
